Blue Jays Recall Shortstop Addison Barger from Triple-A Buffalo
Barger, 21, Added to 40-Man Roster

The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled shortstop Addison Barger from the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, the team announced today. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Blue Jays have designated right-handed pitcher Bowden Francis for assignment.
Barger, 21, is a highly touted prospect who was ranked as the Blue Jays' No. 11 prospect by MLB Pipeline entering the 2023 season. The 6-foot, 210-pound shortstop has hit .301/.369/.493 with 12 home runs and 38 stolen bases in 112 games at Triple-A this season.
A native of Brampton, Ontario, Barger was drafted by the Blue Jays in the first round (30th overall) of the 2021 MLB Draft. He made his professional debut in 2022, playing for the Low-A Dunedin Blue Jays and High-A Vancouver Canadians.
Barger is expected to make his Major League debut with the Blue Jays on Tuesday when they face the Boston Red Sox at Rogers Centre.
