The 2006 Formula 1 Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix was held on October 1, 2006, at the Shanghai International Circuit. The race was the 16th round of the 2006 Formula One Championship season. Scuderia Ferrari driver Michael Schumacher won the race, with Renault's Giancarlo Fisichella and Red Bull's David Coulthard completing the podium.

Yamamoto finished in 14th place, two laps behind race winner Schumacher.
