Angels Finalize Landmark Agreement with Star Outfielder
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels have reached an agreement on a historic 12-year, $430 million contract, shattering MLB salary records.
The deal, which was finalized on Wednesday, surpasses the 10-year, $363.5 million contract signed by Bryce Harper with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2019 and makes Trout the highest-paid player in baseball history.
Trout, a three-time American League MVP and nine-time All-Star, is entering the fifth year of a six-year, $144.5 million contract he signed with the Angels in 2019. The new deal extends his contract through the 2038 season.
The 30-year-old Trout, considered one of the greatest players in MLB history, has won three Silver Sluggers, two Gold Gloves, and a Platinum Glove during his career. He is also a four-time MLB batting champion.
